wednesday: a lesson in impermanence

Katreena told me her dog, sister cinnamon, was barking, mad, furious, at her leaving for the night, but on the way back katreena said that old pup would be asleep, unbothered, fussless, on the couch. We couldn’t find her keys and I couldn’t believe i was the driver - sober, gladly - caretaker of sorts, grown a kind of way unthought of, dreamed of, unimagined, three years ago. I told the universe - myself, my boss, my friends - what I wanted and what i needed and the ghosts around me listened. Tonight I drove with them in sacred silence all the way home.
